BDS actions in January 2026

1 January: Zohran Mamdani, the founder of a Justice for Palestine chapter in school takes over the mayorship of New York.

1 January: Zohran Mamdani revokes the executive orders of his predecessor on the support of the IHRA working definition on antisemitism and the ban on the BDS movement.

6 January: The Palestinian journalist Ali Abunimah, who was prevented from speaking and arrested in Switzerland was acquitted. A court in Zurich found his arrest unlawful.

8 January: Belgium does not provide consular services to Belgian citizens living in Israeli settlements in Palestine.

8 January: Dozens of writers withdrew of the Adelaide Writers week over the cancelation of a Palestinian-Australian writer at the event.

9 January: The campaign No Music for Genocide aiming for the withdrawal from the ESC of Malta has kicked off.

11 January: The chair and further three board members resigned from the Adelaide writers week.
